Arrow Guild Wars Factions: Skimpy music...

While there is probably no way to save Guild Wars Factions from an overall disappointing expansion game design [as what a lot of players seem to think], Anet should probably add or mix up the music in Cantha to make it more interesting to play in. Here is a rough layout of the current music distribution in Cantha. Pretty lame to play through hours / days listening to the same slow-paced music over and over. IMO, Factions would have been a slightly better game if the yellow area and music was mixed in more with the main map. [This is based on Standard Edition.]

The music is the reason I haven't had the sound on in 8 months.

See, this is why I love iTunes. I run it in the background, and I have a playlist depending on where I am. UWMix, FoWMix, FaxMix, ProphMix, and ElonMix is ownage.

Well I have noticed just one sound in certain areas, but after listening to the soundtrack and playing factions i hear the same music i heard on the soundtrack, Im not sure where, as i havent payed all THAT much attention to it. I just know i have heard more then 6 different types of music. Not many more, but more.

I don't know, I really enjoyed the Factions music, I thought they did a great job with it. Nightfall music has been boring me to tears, though.

I like the Factions music but agree with the original poster.

His/Her complaint is not over the music, but over the variety.

The music doesn't change often enough. A new player to Factions is going to spend 90% of their time on that small island - which takes forever to get off - and will never hear the other sounds. If you manage to not give up the game after reaching Kaineng and getting visually and game-play pimp-slapped (with the lack of variety in looks and opponents), you're still not going to get much more variety in sound for a long time...

It makes the whole game feel like a grind, even in the middle of a quest or plot element.

The amount of Factions music is dissappointing, but I have to say that the Factions music is my favorite of the 3 games.

I loved the login screen music of Factions and was sad it was taken away when nightfall came closer.

Wow, great map / music research.

If found the DirectSong music/CE Bonus greatly enhanced Factions vs standard. CE Bonus music espically.

prophecies / nightfall doesn't require bonus purchase to get a good amount and variety of music--and thats the way it should be

Agree, and I love the "battle music" change when you aggro in NG then defaults to level music after battle.

No one would buy from directsong.com if there's more music in the game. One downside of subscription free game.

Factions OST was too much ambient... CE minipak was much better

Yeah, you really need the CE/DirectSong music for variety in Factions music. Overall, though, Factions has the best music out of all three chapters IMO.
